漢語的定語永遠在所修飾詞的前面；而英語通常只有單詞定語在所修飾詞的前面，多詞定語或定語從句在放在所修飾詞的後面。這給閱讀時的理解造成了障礙，也是智能翻譯軟體設計的一大難關。

英語的狀語位置比較靈活，翻譯時可以根據漢語意思調整位置。

這種語塊的劃分是相對的，沒有統一標準，以適合理解為宜，請讀者在閱讀中加深印象。至於少數生詞和短語，只要不影響答題，考試時就不要糾纏，等講評學習時再作深究。

閱讀理解「一讀二思三分辨」思路的具體內容是：

一讀文體明大意；二思題型找題眼；三辨幹擾同復現。

（一）一讀文體明大意

承載高考考題的語篇文體通常分為應用文、記敘文、說明文、議論文和夾敘夾議。本文可以算是說明文，其文體特徵是：說一件事、舉幾個例、明一個理。

本文段落繁多，可以分層次來理解。

【第一層次】說一件事：

第1段：倫敦一家養老院要老人養雞，are being given hens ；

第2段：其目的是「減少孤獨，提高幸福感」. 「也可幫助老年痴呆患者」，It is also being used to help patients [suffering dementia]。

【第二層次】舉幾個例：

第3-6段：80歲老人Ruth Xavier的感受；

第7段： 700多類似老人受益。

【第三層次】明一個理：

第8段：活動創始人盼望長期效益；

第9段：地方官員樂於參與。

28.	由the purpose of 可知，是意圖態度題，就「意圖或目的，態度或立場」等內容提問。「辦這個項目的目的」要到第一層次「說一件事」中去找答案。根據第一段的目的狀語和第二段的目的狀語improve elderly people’s wellbeing，選D.To promote the elderly people’s welfare。
1.文中的wellbeing和選項D.中的welfare是近義詞同現，指「幸福、幸福感」。 2.選項AB是「無中生有」。 3.選項C是由第二段a reduction 延伸的「偷梁換柱」幹擾項。減少了藥物的使用，而不是「為醫學研究籌錢」。

1.推理判斷題，其特點是「見到的不是答案」，排除B. 2. 由第八段「looking forward to the benefits and fun」排除D. 3.D. It takes ages to see the results.是「以偏概全」。result效果是多方面的。雖然目前不盈利，但老人們的身心健康、醫療費用下降等效果是顯而易見的。
