The mother-daughter story focuses on Jia Xiaoling, a fresh college student who magically teleports to the past. There she meets her mother as a young woman and tries to rectify her relationship with her.
這部由小品改編而來的電影源於導演賈玲的親身經歷，年少時的女主賈曉玲叛逆，讓媽媽各種操心，等她考上大學，初嘗人生坎坷，最終想要彌補和媽媽之間的誤會時，媽媽卻出車禍不幸去世。
曉玲悲痛萬分，在她情緒崩潰的狀態下，竟意外地回到了1981年，並與年輕的母親李煥英相遇，二人形影不離，宛如閨蜜。

This is the directorial debut of comedian Jia Ling, who is mostly known for her sketches in the Spring Festival Gala.
Comedian Jia Ling, who also starred in the film, wanted the movie to pay tribute to her late mother who passed away in an accident when she was 19. The plot was inspired by the real-life stories of Jia and her mother.
曉玲回到過去後發現，媽媽如果當時能嫁給條件更好的人，生活會更富足，於是她決定犧牲自己，讓媽媽能有更加快樂的生活，但沒想到其實媽媽跟她一起穿越回去，並且做了和當年同樣的選擇，因為女兒才是李煥英最大的財富。
電影敘事手法簡單易懂，用溫情而真摯的藝術手法呈現了細膩的母愛，許多人淚灑電影院。
電影的英文名是"Hi, Mom"，中文名為何取的是《你好，李煥英》呢？
導演賈玲接受採訪時說，「因為我的媽媽不僅是我的媽媽，她也是她自己」。
