That Africa is in no way the same as it is portrayed in the media.

I have seen so many movies where a person says they are going to Africa to help poverty or orphans or something. When they get there, this is how they make it seem.

Orphans：孤兒

我之前看到過很多電影，一個人說他將會去非洲幫助貧困兒童或者孤兒之類的。當他們到達那邊的時候，他們看到的將會是這樣子的。

And while I love the fact that Africa has such a vast amount of animals and has such beautiful terrains, not all of it is jungle.

I』ve literally been asked by a girl if I ride lions as a legitimate question. No trace of sarcasm on their face. It’s that bad.

Take Nigeria for instance, Nigeria has been so urbanized that I, who lived there for a long time, have literally never seen a giraffe, elephant or rhino, all of which are depicted in that photo.

對然我喜歡非洲有如此之多的動物和美麗的地貌，並且並不是所有的都是叢林。

Believe it or not, Africa does have quite a lot of cities, Cape Town, Lagos, Cairo, all of these places have beautiful architecture and creations. So you can’t actually tell me that Africa is all jungle and forest.

And then the stereotype that all Africans are poor and dumb.

It is true that a lot of Africans are poverty stricken, but some of that poverty in quite a few countries, is caused by corruption.

Dumb：愚蠢

信不信由你，非洲已經有很多城市了，比如,Cape Town, Lagos, Cairo等，這些地方都有著漂亮的建築物和景觀。所以你不能說非洲只有叢林。

The leaders thus take the money for themselves and fellow politicians, leaving none for the citizens. That creates a wide gap between the poor and the rich. So therefore, those who are rich are extremely rich, and those who are poor are extremely poor.

領導人把錢都給了自己或者其他政客，並沒有留多少錢給公民。因此這造成了巨大的貧富差距。有錢的越有錢，窮的越窮。

In some countries that is not the case, and poverty is due to the envrironment (they have really bad droughts at times, causing there to be no food), or outbreaks of violence and war. It’s true that some countries in Africa have it very bad.

But in spite of that, we do have resources. The richest African man currently is Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian. He has a net worth of 12.7 billion dollars. That is far more than Donald Trump’s Net worth of 3.2 Billion dollars, not nearly as much as Bill Gate’s 90 billion, but still enough to top charts.

He also received the highest grades at a university in Japan in 50 years.

The only reasons not as many Africans are listed as smart, is because many don’t get the opportunity. When the slave trade began, African development was greatly stunted. That stunt still affects us today.
