去看電影，很多同學脫口而出

然鵝。。。到了美國，
才發現人家外國人不只是管電影院叫
Cinema！
▶ 作為名詞，cinema 和 theater 的區別在於 cinema (可數名詞)可以指電影，而 theater 則指一個地方或建築，它由舞臺和座位組成，觀眾可以聚集在那裡觀看戲劇、音樂表演、公共儀式等。
▶ 他們也可以指一回事：美國人去 theater 看電影，而英國人則到 cinema 看電影。但是美國人沒有人用 「going to the cinema」 表示「去電影院」，除非你在開玩笑（可能是想模仿英式口音）或者裝腔作勢。
▶ 在這兩個國家，當指可以看舞臺劇的「劇院」時，都是說 「theater」。
1. 詢問上映的電影&上映時間：
What's on？現在什麼電影正在上映？
When is the release date or premiere of《XXX》?
《XXX》的上映時間或者首映日期是什麼時候？
2. 到達影院去前臺購票，服務人員可能會問你：
Which film would you like to see? Which show time?
你想看哪部電影？哪個時間場的？
How many seats would you like?
要幾個座位？
Where would you like to sit?
想坐哪裡？
3. 選擇好之後，你可以對服務人員說：
May I have 2 tickets for the 8 o' clock show of 《XXX》？
我可以來兩張8點場的《XXX》的票嗎？
We would like to sit in row G, seats 12 to 14.
我們想坐在G排，12到14座。
