一、exercise用作名詞

1）當exercise 作籠統的「運動，鍛鍊」解時， 是不可數名詞。如：

Swimming is a good form of exercise.遊泳是一種很好的運動方式。Good health depends upon good food, exercise, and getting enough sleep.健康依賴於良好的食物、運動和充足的睡眠. Exercise is good for your heart and lungs．對您的心臟和肺，運動也是有益的。

1）do exercise 鍛鍊，運動，

2）do exercises 做練習，做操；do morning exercises做早操，做廣播體操 ; do eye exercises

四、drill, exercise, practice和training辨析

drill側重進行有系統的、嚴格和重複的練習。尤指學習的操練或軍事上的練兵。如：

The soldiers have drill every day. 士兵們每天操練。

Students of English should have a lot of oral drills. 學英語的學生應該多做口頭練習。

exercise 主要指為強壯體魄而進行的鍛鍊，也可指進行練習以保持已經獲得的技巧。如：

Walking is good exercise. 散步是很好的運動。We do English exercises to help us learn good English. 我們做英文練習以便學好英語。

practice指把所學的理論或知識用於實踐以獲得技藝與技巧。如：

如：Practice makes perfect. 熟練生巧。It takes a lot of practice to play the piano well. 彈好鋼琴需要大量的練習。

training 普通用詞，泛指為從事某種職業而進行的身體或智力方面的訓練。

He has had no college training. 他沒有受過大學訓練。He went into training for the race. 他開始訓練參加比賽。
