　　Today'sceremony,however,hasveryspecialmeaningbecausetoday,wearenotmerelytransferringpowerfromoneadministrationtoanotherorfromonepartytoanother,butwearetransferringpowerfromWashington,D.C.andgivingitbacktoyou,thepeople.

　　Fortoolong,asmallgroupinournation'scapitalhasreapedtherewardsofgovernmentwhilethepeoplehavebornethecost.Washingtonflourished,butthepeopledidnotshareinitswealth.Politiciansprospered,butthejobsleftandthefactoriesclosed.Theestablishmentprotecteditself,butnotthecitizensofourcountry.Theirvictorieshavenotbeenyourvictories.Theirtriumphshavenotbeenyourtriumphs.Andwhiletheycelebratedinournation'scapital,therewaslittletocelebrateforstrugglingfamiliesallacrossourland.

　　Thatallchangesstartingrighthereandrightnowbecausethismomentisyourmoment,itbelongstoyou.

　　Butfortoomanyofourcitizens,adifferentrealityexists:mothersandchildrentrappedinpovertyinourinnercities;rustedoutfactoriesscatteredliketombstonesacrossthelandscapeofournation;aneducationsystemflushwithcash,butwhichleavesouryoungandbeautifulstudentsdeprivedofallknowledge;andthecrimeandthegangsandthedrugsthathavestolentoomanylivesandrobbedourcountryofsomuchunrealizedpotential.

　　ThisAmericancarnagestopsrighthereandstopsrightnow.

　　Weareonenationandtheirpainisourpain.Theirdreamsareourdreams.Andtheirsuccesswillbeoursuccess.Weshareoneheart,onehome,andonegloriousdestiny.TheoathofofficeItaketodayisanoathofallegiancetoallAmericans.

　　Formanydecades,we'veenrichedforeignindustryattheexpenseofAmericanindustry;subsidizedthearmiesofothercountries,whileallowingfortheverysaddepletionofourmilitary.We'vedefendedothernations'borderswhilerefusingtodefendourown.

　　AndspenttrillionsandtrillionsofdollarsoverseaswhileAmerica'sinfrastructurehasfallenintodisrepairanddecay.We'vemadeothercountriesrich,whilethewealth,strengthandconfidenceofourcountryhasdissipatedoverthehorizon.

　　Onebyone,thefactoriesshutteredandleftourshores,withnotevenathoughtaboutthemillionsandmillionsofAmericanworkersthatwereleftbehind.Thewealthofourmiddleclasshasbeenrippedfromtheirhomesandthenredistributedallacrosstheworld.

　　Butthatisthepast.Andnow,wearelookingonlytothefuture.

　　Weassembledheretodayareissuinganewdecreetobeheardineverycity,ineveryforeigncapital,andineveryhallofpower.Fromthisdayforward,anewvisionwillgovernourland.Fromthisdayforward,it'sgoingtobeonlyAmericafirst,Americafirst.

　　Wewillfollowtwosimplerules;buyAmericanandhireAmerican.

　　Wewillseekfriendshipandgoodwillwiththenationsoftheworld,butwedosowiththeunderstandingthatitistherightofallnationstoputtheirowninterestsfirst.Wedonotseektoimposeourwayoflifeonanyone,butrathertoletitshineasanexample.Wewillshineforeveryonetofollow.
